Cause of Muddy Water in Lake

Question: Why would the water in a pond or lake look muddy?

Answer: Muddy water usually is, could be several different things. Generally, muddy water is just turbidity after a rain event or the non-organic material can come from streets, excess dirt, sand that’s been on the street and it washes into the retention pond. Another reason for muddy water could also be certain algae types that will create that same color and clarity issue.
