Duties As Natural Areas and Wetlands Director

Question: What exactly are your duties as the Natural Areas and Wetlands Director with EMS?

Answer: As the Natural Areas and Wetlands Director with Estate Management, it’s my job to, when we receive jobs dealing with areas that have been deemed as natural areas or wetlands, to make sure that any kind of plant removal or management is done under certain specifications, dealing with these types of areas.

I deal with the natural areas and wetland areas that are there naturally, and also dealing with all the man-made areas that you have nowadays, with subdivisions and things. Some of them are required to have a certain area designated as a natural area or like conservation area, or they may have a wetland but it’s in the middle of their construction area, so they have to redesign and build it off to the side of that and then manage and maintain it.
