High Lake Water Level

Question: Why would the water level in my pond or lake be high?

Answer: Surprisingly we get this question a lot. Most of the time it’s because of rainfall. These ponds are designed to catch the rain from streets and yards. So if you get a one-inch rain, it’s not uncommon to see a six or seven inch elevation change in your pond. Generally your control structure will change the elevation back to normal or full pool after a little bit of time. Another issue could be that your outfall structure is clogged. They have a primary drain and then they have a flood stage drain. And a lot of times we’ll find that that primary drain source on the structure is clogged.
