Methods of Mosquito Control for South Carolina

Question: What methods of mosquito control do you use for ponds and lakes in the upper coastal region of South Carolina?

Answer: We use a variety of different mosquito control methods. We use mosquito dunks, which is a bacteria that inhibits larval production from the mosquito. You simply put these dunks in the water and they move throughout the water column. And as a mosquito lays an egg in the water, it kills that larval. The other thing that we use, and if it’s on the land around the pond bank a lot of times, we just chemically fog Permanone, which kills the mosquitos on contact.
