Answer: Some baseline water chemistry can be done on-site, such as dissolved oxygen, phosphorus, nitrogen, nitrates, salinity—those are good just snapshots of the chemistry that you have now, which will kind of give you an indicator of whether you need to move to a more aggressive stance or a more scientific study of your chemistry. Generally the lab is going to have more accurate than a field test, and they can be used, because they’re ASTM certified, they can be used in public documents.
