That vegetation can be simply grasses or sedges, on up to ornamental aquatic plants that are designed to stop erosion. Another common practice is to use rip rap rock so you end up with a rock ring all the way around the pond. It’s very good at controlling erosion. Another not as common, a little more expensive, is a bulkhead. And that’s a wooden wall or concrete wall that’s built around the pond to prevent that erosion.
