Prevention and Explanation of Algae Blooms

Question: What are algae blooms? How can they be prevented?

Answer: There’s several different types of algae. You’ve got filamentous algae, which are generally the green mats that are on the surface; and then you have microscopic algae which are the green tint or brown tint to the water. Generally, the way to prevent algae blooms are through algaecide treatments, control measures to control sunlight through dyes, aeration can sometimes help algae blooms. There is no single arrow fix to algae blooms.
