Problems with High Water Level in a Pond

Question: What are the problems with having a high water level in a pond or lake?

Answer: If the water level was created by a well from supplementally adding water to the pond, then you’re kind of defeating the design of that pond. If you artificially add water to a stormwater pond, then the control structure is not going to function as designed. That stormwater pond is supposed to hold that water for a certain period of time. So if you have it at a higher than normal level, then it’s not going to hold any of those nutrients that it’s designed to catch.
