Removing a Fallen Tree from Pond

Question: What is the best way to remove an entire tree that has fallen into a pond?

Answer: There is no good way to remove a tree, and it’s almost a case-by-case basis. Some trees can be removed with a crane mounted on the shoreline, and you pick it up and dispose of it that way. We’ve had to use barge units, where we cut up sections of the tree, winch it to the barge and then dispose of it on land. It is critical that you get that tree out because of the chemical reactions that it causes. I have seen some very creative ways of people getting trees out; for instance, a pine tree floats. So if you cut it into small enough sections, you can actually float the tree out.
